Howitt Hall Wellness Week

Hey all!

A couple of weeks ago I along with the Howitt RST ran an awesome project during SWOTVAC (the week of study before exams for Uni students) for the cool cats down at Howitt Hall, Monash University - and it was awesome! We had a great agenda planned and it went down a treat. The whole idea was to make sure all the residents at Howitt had productive study breaks during the week that would benefit their physical and mental health and get them ready and raring for a successful exam period.

Day One was Couples Yoga. There wasn't a huge turn out but we managed to make do with the people that came and they really enjoyed it as you can see from our Bunk Beds followed by sitting up into a Box Shape, before falling over!

On the Tuesday I held a Bedtime Yoga class. The class was held at 9pm and was an example of what students could do to make sure that they got a nice, long, restful sleep before their exams and during the study period to ensure maximum energy and alertness during the day!

On Wednesday we held a Crafternoon station as a quick study break for people. There was mandala colouring, drawing, as well as origami! It was the perfect little boost for all of the hard studying students!

On Thursday evening we held another Couples/Group Yoga class that was so much fun! It involved a lot of creativity as well as testing our strength, flexibility comfort zone!

We had a healthy fruit brunch on Friday and on Saturday we had a Mixed Yoga and Pilates class to get everyone ready and raring for exams the next week!

Ultimately it was a very successful week! Perfectly sized classes for maximum attention to each student and the perfect activities to really benefit all of us. I am a huge advocate for learning how to maintain your physical and mental health during stressful times as well as everyday life, particularly for students and I would absolutely encourage anyone working and studying in a school or university environment to create things like this for the students.
